Background
Prior to joining the Georgia Tech faculty in 2001 as a Professor, Dr. Joshi held academic positions at the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He also worked in the semiconductor assembly industry on process thermal model development. He was named to the McKenney/Shiver Chair in 2004.

lorenzini@gatech.edu | Resume/CV | Research Daniel Lorenzini received his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Guanajuato, Mexico (Summa Cum Laude Honors). He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019. He has been a research intern at the University of Texas at Dallas and Rochester Institute of Technology. His interests include applied research, product thermal/structural design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and optimization. Experienced in the analysis and design of cooling solutions (single-phase and phase-change), with a focus on microfluidic systems for thermal management of high-power electronics. |
Name: Yunhyeok Im E-mail: yunhyeok.im@gatech.edu Role: Research Faculty, since March 2023 Background: Yunhyeok Im joined Georgia Tech as a research faculty in Mechanical Engineering in 2023. As a member of CHIMES (Center for Heterogeneous Integration of Micro Electronic Systems) in the JUMP 2.0 program, he is developing liquid cooling technology for 2.5D and 3D systems. Before joining Georgia Tech, he had been with Samsung Electronics for 23 years. As a principal engineer, he impacted advanced thermal design decisions for SOC, ASIC, and Memory products in the early design stage. He published 29 technical papers and 54 United States (US) patents in Samsung. He earned his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from KAIST. His current research interests include the thermal architecture of advanced packages, fabrication of nanostructures for liquid cooling, finding new materials for enhanced heat transfer, and developing efficient simulation methodology. Name: Ubade Kemerli E-mail: ubade.kemerli@me.gatech.edu Role: Postdoctoral Researcher since August 2021 Background: Dr. Kemerli’s research focuses on periodic cellular metals and metal foams’ fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics. He has received a Ph.D. and Master of Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Trakya University, Türkiye. His research interests are convective heat transfer, electronics cooling, and molecular dynamics simulations. Name: Ahmet Mete Muslu E-mail: metemuslu@gatech.edu Role: Ph.D. Student Since January 2020 Background: Ahmet Mete Muslu’s research mainly focuses on integrated thermal management in SiC-based drive inverters for next-gen electric vehicles. Mete has received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in January 2020 and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in June 2018 from Ozyegin University, Turkey. Role: Graduate Research Assistant since Fall 2019 Background: Ammar received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Menoufia University in Egypt. He was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to continue his graduate studies at Georgia Tech in 2019. He completed his Master’s degree in Spring 2021 and then started his Ph.D. in Fall 2021. The focus of his Master’s was the study of single-phase jet impingement for the cooling of high-heat-flux power electronics. Name: Srinivas Shashank Mantha E-mail: smantha31@gatech.edu Role: Graduate Research Assistant Background: Srinivas received his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, India, in 2020. He completed his Master’s degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, in the spring of 2023. His focus in his Master’s was on understanding the effect of the contact angle hysteresis on pool boiling critical heat flux. He had worked on pool boiling visualization, surface design and fabrication techniques. He joined METTL as a Ph.D. student during the fall of 2023, and his current focus is to study flow boiling in enhanced microgaps through experimental and numerical studies. |
Name: Myriam Bouzidi E-mail: mbouzidi3@gatech.edu Role: Graduate Research Assistant Background: Myriam received a combined B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in General Engineering from Arts et Métiers, Bordeaux, France and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA in 2023. She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical engineering with the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, with a focus on thermal management in the Microelectronics and Emerging Technologies Thermal Lab. She is currently working on Flexible, Multi-Functional Thermal Management System and Electro-Thermal Modeling for Ultra-Compact High Power Density Systems (Task I.4) as part of CHIMES. Her research interests include thermal management in microelectronics, two-phase cooling, flexible cooling structures, product thermal/structural design, multiphysics modeling and simulation, manufacturing, testing, and optimization. |

Name: Michael Ayers
E-mail: mayers33@gatech.edu Role: Graduate Research Assistant Background: Michael is a graduate student pursing a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech, starting in the fall of 2021. He received his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2015. After graduating he worked in the nuclear power industry, where he performed safety analyses and penned regulatory compliance reports. He then worked in a research and development lab in defense, where he primarily focused on the design and manufacture of test equipment. Name: Samuel Glowacki E-mail: sglowacki3@gatech.edu Role: Graduate Research Assistant Background: Samuel is a graduate student currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, commencing his studies in the autumn of 2022. In the fall of 2023, he became a member of the METTL at Georgia Tech, undertaking an exchange program from Arts et Métiers, a distinguished French engineering school. Samuel holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Engineering from Arts et Métiers, awarded in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
