Background
Prior to joining the Georgia Tech faculty in 2001 as a Professor, Dr. Joshi held academic positions at the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He also worked in the semiconductor assembly industry on process thermal model development. He was named to the McKenney/Shiver Chair in 2004.

lorenzini@gatech.edu | Resume/CV | Research Daniel Lorenzini received his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Guanajuato, Mexico (Summa Cum Laude Honors). He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019. He has been a research intern at the University of Texas at Dallas and Rochester Institute of Technology. His interests include applied research, product thermal/structural design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and optimization. Experienced in the analysis and design of cooling solutions (single-phase and phase-change), with a focus on microfluidic systems for thermal management of high-power electronics. |

Background: Ammar received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Menoufia University in Egypt. He was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to continue his graduate studies at Georgia Tech in 2019. He completed his Master’s degree in Spring 2021 and then started his Ph.D. in Fall 2021. The focus of his Master’s was the study of single-phase jet impingement for the cooling of high-heat-flux power electronics. During his Ph.D., he will focus on understanding two-phase boiling at different length scales through experimental and numerical studies.

Name: Jeho Kim Email: jkim784@gatech.edu Role: Master’s degree candidate, since Jan of 2018 Background: Jeho Kim is a second-year graduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology where he is pursuing in the Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He has been a part of collaborative research between Georgia Institute of Technology and Manufacturing Resources International (MRI) since January of 2018 which focuses on the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics software on MRI’s product. Jeho has published two conference papers regarding the work done on the thermal modeling of outdoor digital displays and plans to conclude his work with a cumulative thesis by the end of 2019. Research topics and involved projects: Currently, Jeho is involved in collaborative research between Georgia Institute of Technology and Manufacturing Resources International. The progress so far has been on creating a thermal model of outdoor digital displays using computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer program. Jeho is working towards setting up a thermo-mechanical model for the same product for a more realistic simulation. |

Name: Joon Woo Kim Email: jkim3375@gatech.edu Role: MS Student Since 2018 Background: Joon’s researches mainly focus on thermal management of high power density of electronics and microfluidics. His research interests include multi-scale two-phase heat transfer systems. Prior to joining Professor Joshi’s lab, Microelectronics & Emerging Technologies Thermal Laboratory (METTL) at Georgia Tech, Joon received his Undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia and a Master’s Degree from University of California-Berkeley. Name: Nikhil Damle Email: npdamle@gatech.edu Role: Master’s Student, since August of 2018 Background: Nikhil is working on the designing and testing of polymeric wicks with active and passive pumping for electronics and electric machines. He received his Bachelor’s in Manufacturing Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2018 where he received the Institute Silver Medal was graduating top his class. He has prior research experience in the domain of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer from his projects and internships at IIT Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Science and the National University of Singapore. His current research is looking into experimental validation of data-driven modeling of temperature in data centers and the deployment of autonomous drones for temperature measurement in data centers. Dhaval obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Florida and subsequently came to the Georgia Institute of Technology to pursue a Master’s of Science in the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. Name: Michael Ayers
E-mail: mayers33@gatech.edu Role: Graduate Research Assistant Background: Michael is a graduate student pursing a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech, starting in the fall of 2021. He received his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2015. After graduating he worked in the nuclear power industry, where he performed safety analyses and penned regulatory compliance reports. He then worked in a research and development lab in defense, where he primarily focused on the design and manufacture of test equipment.
